The Bihar State Election 2025 results are expected today. Many prominent entertainment personalities contested across various political parties in the state. Their political fates will be decided as the votes are counted.
Several celebrities drew significant attention during this election cycle. Among them are folk singer Maithili Thakur, Bhojpuri actor Khesari Lal Yadav, and Jyoti Singh, wife of singer Pawan Singh. Bhojpuri singer Ritesh Pandey also entered the political fray.
Khesari Lal Yadav, a renowned Bhojpuri actor and singer, ran from the Chhapra constituency. He represented the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) party. Yadav has starred in over 70 Bhojpuri films and lent his voice to more than 5,000 songs. His recent work includes a song in the Bollywood film “Sun Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.”
Maithili Thakur contested from the Alinagar seat on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Born on July 25, 2000, in Madhubani district, Bihar, Thakur began her music training at age four. She performed locally by age ten. Her career gained momentum after appearing on Zee TV’s “Little Champs” in 2011 and “Rising Star” Season 1 in 2017. Her rendition of “Om Namah Shivay” on “Rising Star” brought her widespread recognition. She is also known for popular songs like “Holi Re Rasiya” and devotional tracks.
Jyoti Singh, wife of Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh, ran as an independent candidate. She filed her nomination from the Karakat constituency. Her husband, Pawan Singh, campaigned for the BJP in the same election. The couple is currently involved in divorce proceedings, a matter that has also garnered public attention.
Bhojpuri singer Ritesh Pandey also sought to make his mark in politics. He is associated with Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party. Pandey is contesting from the Kargahar Assembly constituency. He has been a very active figure in the Bhojpuri music industry.
