Catalina Mancera, the girlfriend of the late Dallas Cowboys star Marshawn Kneeland, is pregnant.
Cowboys Head Coach Brian Schottenheimer announced the news during a press conference on Wednesday, November 12.
Schottenheimer, 52, also unveiled the Marshawn Kneeland Memorial Fund. This fund aims to support Mancera and the couple’s unborn child.
“I’d like to take a few moments and offer my condolences to Marshawn’s family, to Catalina, his girlfriend,” Schottenheimer stated.
He added, “Last night we had a chance to celebrate Marshawn’s life, tell some stories. Share, laugh, cry. Marshawn loved the words ‘one love.’ So we talked a lot about love, as we mourn his loss.”
Schottenheimer also reflected on Kneeland’s character, noting he had “the most playful spirit of any young man I’ve been around.”
“My heart is heavy, my team’s heart is heavy,” Schottenheimer continued. “We don’t move on, but we move forward.”
Kneeland tragically died on Thursday, November 6. His body was found following an apparent suicide.
Kneeland and Mancera had been in a relationship since his college days at Western Michigan University.
The Cowboys selected Kneeland in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
