Juan Luis Guerra has officially claimed the title of the artist with the most Latin GRAMMY awards in history. The Dominican singer now holds 28 golden gramophones.
This notable shift occurred after the 2024 ceremony, held at the Kaseya Center in Miami. Guerra surpassed Juanes, with whom he had been tied at 27 awards.
Guerra secured four significant accolades in 2024. These included Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Merengue/Bachata Album, and Best Tropical Song.
While Puerto Rican artist René Pérez holds 33 awards, his distinctions are divided. Twenty-five were won with Calle 13, and eight were earned as Residente.
The 2025 Latin GRAMMY Awards are set for November 13 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. Neither Guerra, Juanes, nor Pérez are nominated for this upcoming ceremony.
However, Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny is poised to be a major figure. He leads with 12 nominations for the 2025 awards. Bad Bunny currently possesses 12 Latin GRAMMYs and could significantly climb the historical rankings.
Mexican composer and producer Édgar Barrera also has a strong showing with 10 nominations. The Argentinian duo Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso also received 10 nominations.
Mexican singer Natalia Lafourcade, the top female winner with 18 awards, holds eight nominations. Alejandro Sanz, with 24 career awards, seeks to add to his total with four nominations.
Other prominent artists with multiple Latin GRAMMYs include Alejandro Sanz (24), Édgar Barrera (21), Carlos Vives (16), Jorge Drexler (16), Rubén Blades (15), Shakira (15), Carlos Álvarez (14), and Julieta Venegas (14).
In the group category, Calle 13 remains dominant with 25 awards. Café Tacuba follows with eight, and Maná has six. Their album “Entren los que quieran” is the most awarded album with nine gramophones.
Eduardo Cabra, a Puerto Rican composer and producer, leads his field with 25 awards. Édgar Barrera is next with 21, and Carlos Álvarez has 11.
Among mixing engineers, Argentinian keyboardist Aníbal Kerper stands out with 10 awards. North American Thom Russo is close behind with nine.
