Javed Akhtar has offered his perspective on the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in creative industries, including cinema. The renowned lyricist and screenwriter is known for his candid opinions. He recently shared his thoughts during the “Soundscapes of India 2” event.
Akhtar addressed the upcoming Indian International Film Festival 2025, which plans to include an AI-related segment. He noted that people have historically resisted new technologies.
He declared AI to be an undeniable reality. “Whether you consider it right or wrong, science keeps advancing,” Akhtar stated. “AI has achieved great things abroad. Today, it is a reality.”
Akhtar also questioned the extent of human control over AI. He emphasized that AI relies on existing data, which is provided by users.
“We can control it; it should be for our convenience,” he asserted. “The truth is that today AI depends on existing data. Who provides that data? You are giving them data. You have to decide how much of it you want because it is never going to stop.”
He concluded that AI is a continuous and unstoppable force.
