A new public tender has been launched for a second golf course on Portugal’s Porto Santo island, signaling a continued expansion of golf tourism infrastructure across the Madeira archipelago with European Union financial backing.
The tender, issued by the Porto Santo Development Society, covers the first phase of construction for the new course. Its base value is approximately $6.6 million (6.1 million euros).
The contract for this initial phase has an execution period of 13 months. The project will receive funding from the European Union.
This development adds to the archipelago’s existing golf facilities, which include one course already on Porto Santo and two on the main island of Madeira. Another new golf infrastructure is also under construction in Ponta do Pargo, in the municipality of Calheta on Madeira.
The announcement of the public tender was published on Monday in Portugal’s official gazette, Diário da República.
