Sonakshi Sinha’s latest film, ‘Jatadhara’, has struggled significantly at the box office since its release on November 7. Despite initial anticipation, the film failed to connect with audiences during its opening weekend.
The mythological action film, which also stars Sudheer Babu, earned just $128,400 on its opening day, Friday. Its performance did not improve substantially on Saturday, collecting the same amount.
On Sunday, its third day in theaters, ‘Jatadhara’ saw a further decline, bringing in an estimated $103,200 by the time of reporting. This brings its total three-day box office collection to approximately $360,000.

The film’s anemic numbers are particularly concerning given its reported production budget. Media reports suggest ‘Jatadhara’ was made with a budget of approximately $1.92 million.
Its weekend earnings fall far short of expectations for even a modestly budgeted feature.

‘Jatadhara’ marks Sonakshi Sinha’s debut in Telugu cinema. Directed by Abhishek Jaiswal, the film combines elements of mythology with modern action, following the journey of a mysterious character.
The cast also includes Shilpa Shirodkar, Rajiv Kanakala, Indira Krishnan, Ravi Prakash, and Subhalekha Sudhakar.

The film faced stiff competition at the box office. It debuted alongside ‘Hak’ and ‘The Girlfriend’, and also contended with the Hollywood release ‘Predator Badlands’.
Older films like ‘Thama’ and ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ are also still playing in theaters. The critical reception for ‘Jatadhara’ has also reportedly been poor.

Monday is expected to be a critical day for ‘Jatadhara’ as it enters its first weekday run. The film will need a significant turnaround to recover its production costs.
