Samsung is poised to challenge competitors in the Android smartwatch segment with its Galaxy Watch8, expected to launch in July 2025, which boasts an array of advanced health features and robust design.
The device integrates a comprehensive suite of health and fitness monitoring tools, including sleep quality tracking, electrocardiogram (ECG) functionality, and blood oxygen level measurements.
Further enhancing its health capabilities, the Galaxy Watch8 incorporates Galaxy AI for personalized workout coaching and sleep recommendations. It also features Samsung’s BioActive Sensor 2, providing readings for skin temperature and stress levels.
Designed for daily wear and harsh environments, the smartwatch meets MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability standards, making it resistant to extreme temperatures, sand, humidity, and vibration. It also offers 5ATM water resistance for swimming and IP68 dust protection, allowing submersion in fresh water up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.
Operating on OneUI 8, which overlays WearOS 6, the Galaxy Watch8 promises a premium user experience characterized by rapid app switching, fluid animations, and responsive performance.
Users will have access to the Google Play Store, contactless payment options, and a dedicated button to activate Gemini, Google’s AI assistant. An eSIM version will also enable standalone calls without requiring a linked smartphone.
When paired with a Samsung smartphone, the smartwatch unlocks additional functionalities, such as snore detection, underscoring its seamless integration within Samsung’s broader device ecosystem.
The Watch8’s design includes a distinctive square dial with rounded edges, framing a circular display, reflecting Samsung’s commitment to aesthetic refinement in its wearable technology.
