Selling Sunset’s Chrishell Stause Weighs One More Costly, Difficult IVF Attempt

Chrishell Stause, star of Selling Sunset, is currently considering another round of in vitro fertilization (IVF). The reality television personality hopes to expand her family with partner G Flip.

Stause, 44, discussed the challenging process in a profile published Friday, November 7, by Bustle. "It was very difficult going through IVF while filming ‘Selling Sunset’," she stated, referring to the Netflix reality series’ ninth season.

She added, "Now that I’m done and after the reunion airs and the buzz dies down, maybe I’ll give it another go."

Stause has undergone multiple IVF cycles previously, but these attempts did not yield viable embryos. The process is both demanding and costly.

"It’s a process and it’s also expensive," Stause explained. "And now I’m looking for a new job, so I have to be careful with this."

This careful consideration comes as Stause also confirmed her departure from Selling Sunset after nine seasons. She told Bustle that her decision was driven by mental health concerns rather than financial necessity.

"I’ve reached a point where I don’t need the show financially," Stause revealed. "I consider myself lucky to have other sources of employment, because it’s no longer good for my mental health."

Stause and G Flip, 32, a non-binary musician, married in 2023. The couple is actively trying to have children.

G Flip plans to undergo egg retrieval as part of their fertility journey. If successful, the couple has explored surrogacy as an option.

Their journey has been emotionally taxing. Stause told Us Weekly in April, "I’m literally still bleeding from an injection I just got. We are actively trying."

G Flip described the fertility process as "very stressful" in a May Us cover story. They noted that for queer couples, the path to parenthood "doesn’t always go the way you want; sometimes it’s been quite sad."

Despite these challenges, Stause highlights G Flip’s unwavering support as crucial. "It’s something I’ve always loved about G. She makes me feel very calm," Stause shared.

Stause emphasized the complexities they face: "We are in a situation where it’s not easy to have children. It’s not like we can have them naturally. There are many steps, a lot of planning, many complications, and things that can go wrong."

Stause values how they navigate difficulties together. "When you’re at your worst, your partner takes care of you," she added.

The couple remains committed to their relationship and their shared dream of becoming parents. Stause described G Flip as her "favorite person."
