ATP Finals Draw: Alcaraz to Battle Djokovic, Sinner Meets Zverev

The upcoming ATP Finals in Turin will feature a high-profile group stage clash between world number two Carlos Alcaraz and record seven-time champion Novak Djokovic, following the draw announced Thursday. The highly anticipated match-up places two of tennis’s biggest stars in the same initial bracket.

Italy’s Jannik Sinner, the reigning world number one and defending champion, will headline another group alongside Germany’s Alexander Zverev, a two-time winner of the season-ending tournament. The draw for the prestigious event was conducted in Turin, Italy.

Alcaraz, a Spaniard, currently ranks second globally and leads the annual “race” that determines the eight participants. Djokovic, from Serbia, holds the record for the most ATP Finals titles, with seven victories spanning from 2008 to 2023.

Their group, named after tennis legend Jimmy Connors, also includes American Taylor Fritz and Australia’s Alex De Minaur.

The Bjorn Borg Group features Sinner, Zverev, and American Ben Shelton. The eighth and final spot in this group is still to be determined.

The last qualifier will be either Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime or Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti. Musetti will secure the spot if he wins the Athens tournament; otherwise, Auger-Aliassime will participate.

Among the confirmed participants, only Sinner (2024), Djokovic (2008, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2022, 2023), and Zverev (2018, 2021) have previously won the ATP Finals.

Following the group stage, the top two players from each of the two groups will advance to the semifinals.
