Paris Saint-Germain forward Gonçalo Ramos delivered a late, decisive goal as a substitute Saturday, then offered a candid, ironic explanation for his frequent scoring success from the bench.
Ramos entered the match against Nice in the 72nd minute. He netted the winning goal in the 94th minute of play.
When asked about his effectiveness off the bench, the Portuguese striker replied, “I don’t wait for goals to have confidence. I score more often when I come off the bench, perhaps because I’m usually a substitute.”
This season, Ramos has scored five goals in total. Four of those five goals have come after entering the game as a substitute.
Three of his goals from the bench have been decisive for Paris Saint-Germain. An earlier strike in the season secured the European Supercup for the team.
