Manish Malhotra recently revealed several surprising anecdotes from his decades-long career. The renowned celebrity designer shared these stories on the talk show “Too Much With Kajol & Twinkle.” His appearance is generating significant buzz.
One shocking revelation involved a director’s unusual request for a funeral scene. Malhotra was asked to create a white salwar kameez that would make the actress look “hot.” He initially questioned the brief but complied.
Malhotra designed a tight-fitting, almost “bursting” salwar kameez. He understood the makers simply wanted a fitted outfit. The incident highlighted the unique demands often placed on costume designers.
During the show, co-host Twinkle Khanna reminded Malhotra of another memorable slip-up. He accidentally sent a personal message intended for his nephew, Punit Malhotra, to an actress he disliked working with.
The message read, “It’s the last day and I’m going to the set, finishing work with this film and with them too.” Malhotra confirmed the actress handled the gaffe with grace.

Malhotra will appear in an upcoming episode of “Too Much With Kajol & Twinkle” alongside actress Sonakshi Sinha. A teaser for this specific episode has been released.
The designer also credited actress Kajol with starting an unexpected fashion trend. On the set of “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” she wore sneakers under a heavy lehenga.
Malhotra recalled complimenting her outfit. Kajol lifted her lehenga to reveal the sneakers. This act inadvertently sparked a new style trend.
Beyond designing, Malhotra has now ventured into film production. His debut film as a producer is titled “Gustakh Ishq.”
“Gustakh Ishq” is scheduled for a November 21 release in theaters. Vibhu Puri directs the feature.
The film stars Vijay Varma, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Naseeruddin Shah in lead roles. Its songs have already garnered positive attention from audiences.
