Selena Gomez’s Three Wedding Dresses: A Strategy for Privacy

Selena Gomez wore three wedding gowns for her marriage to Benny Blanco. This strategic choice allowed the star to maintain privacy on her special day. She aimed to control the narrative and imagery of the event.

Gomez, 33, explained her decision during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Tuesday, October 21. She told the host that she sought a "low-key" approach to her nuptials. "I didn’t want anyone to get photos of my wedding unless they were mine," the actress shared. "I keep my life as private as possible."

The Only Murders in the Building star revealed each dress served a distinct purpose. One gown was for her initial bridal look. A separate dress was dedicated to her romantic ceremony with Blanco, 37. A third outfit was chosen for the reception.

Her first ensemble was a custom Ralph Lauren design. It featured a halter neckline and a pleated A-line skirt. The gown was completed with an open back and delicate 3D floral accents.

Gomez described her ceremony dress as her "favorite." This sheer gown included a lace neckline and a corset-style bodice. She enhanced the look with sparkling diamond earrings and a dramatic veil. She enthusiastically called the ensemble "a dream."

For the reception, Gomez changed into a midi-length dress. This design showcased an off-the-shoulder neckline and a fitted bodice. Its A-line skirt provided comfort for dancing. Blanco, for his part, wore a classic black and white tuxedo, also by Ralph Lauren.

Sources close to Gomez indicated her pre-wedding plan to Us Weekly. She intended to be the first to share her bridal photos on social media. This was a direct effort to prevent paparazzi or drones from capturing unauthorized images.

The couple implemented stringent privacy measures for their celebrity guests. Taylor Swift, Paul Rudd, Steve Martin, and Martin Short were among those who did not know the exact locations for the rehearsal or wedding until the day itself.

Instead, guests were picked up and transported directly to the venue by bus. Vogue later reported the wedding took place at Sea Crest Nursery in the eastern Goleta Valley, California.

Following the celebration, sources told Us Weekly that Gomez was incredibly joyful. "Selena was nervous before her first look with Benny, but from that moment, she radiated joy," a source shared. She reportedly "didn’t stop smiling or crying tears of joy all day."

Gomez later called the event the "best weekend" and "best day of her life." She expressed deep appreciation for having her loved ones celebrate with them.
