Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira aims for a strong showing at the Australian Grand Prix this weekend, setting targets for the second qualifying session and points finishes, while expressing confidence in his bike’s recent improvements on a track he favors.
Oliveira, who has enjoyed past victories and podiums at Phillip Island, stated his intention to begin the weekend aggressively. He emphasized finding a good feeling with his bike immediately during the initial practice sessions.
“I’m very happy to be back at Phillip Island,” Oliveira told Prima Pramac. “It’s a track I love and where I’ve had great moments. Recent races have shown constant progress, so my approach this weekend will be to start strong.”
His specific goals include reaching Q2 and battling for points in both the sprint and main races. This optimism stems from what he describes as steady performance gains by his team’s bike.
The current Prima Pramac rider will transition to the World Superbike Championship with BMW next season, a significant career shift.
Practice sessions for the Grand Prix are set for early Friday, local time in Australia. Qualifying 1 and 2 will follow on Saturday morning, ahead of the sprint race.
The main race is scheduled for Sunday morning.
