The mysterious passing of popular singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore continues to be a major talking point. Fans are looking for answers. However, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently made a key announcement about the ongoing investigation. He stated on Saturday that the Assam Police cannot travel to Singapore to look into the circumstances of Garg’s death.
According to news agency PTI, the Chief Minister confirmed that the state police are unable to go to the Southeast Asian country. This means they cannot directly investigate the mysterious details surrounding the singer’s demise.
A Tricky International Situation
The Chief Minister met with Zubeen Garg’s family in Guwahati. Afterward, he spoke to reporters, shedding more light on the situation. He explained that the Assam Police would struggle to piece together the case if the Assamese people who were on the yacht during Garg’s death in Singapore do not get involved in the investigation.
Zubeen Garg passed away on September 19 in Singapore. His death occurred under strange conditions during a scuba diving activity. He was in the country to attend the Fourth Northeast India Festival. Shyamkanu Mahanta and his company organized the event. “Assam Police cannot go to Singapore; therefore, they cannot investigate there,” CM Sarma clarified. “They are in Singapore, so this falls outside my authority. Until they come here, nobody will be able to connect the dots of the case.” The state CID is looking into the singer’s sudden death. They had issued notices to some members of the Assam Association, Singapore, asking them to appear before October 6.
Judicial Commission Steps In
To ensure a thorough investigation into the popular singer Zubeen Garg’s death, an independent judicial commission has been formed in Assam. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma discussed the commission’s role with journalists. “The independent judicial commission acts as a place where people can share any information they have about the case,” he explained. “The commission will also keep an eye on the CID’s investigation. This ensures the probe is moving in the correct direction.”
