Celtic Fans Plan 29-Minute Silence Protest Against Board for Sp. Braga Game

Celtic fans plan protest during game with Sp. Braga

Celtic faces a significant test this Thursday when they play Sp. Braga at 17:45. The team has shown strong form, staying undefeated this season with six wins and five draws. However, an early exit from Champions League qualification, losing to Kairat Almaty on penalties, still stings for many supporters. This match comes at a challenging time, with unrest brewing among the fan base.

A planned protest during the game highlights the deep frustrations. Supporters intend to stay silent for 29 minutes. This number symbolizes the 29 days the club’s board has failed to respond to an open letter from the fans. This isn’t the first act of defiance; a similar 12-minute silence happened during the last home game. The tension between the stands and the boardroom casts a long shadow over the team’s solid on-field performance.

Manager Brendan Rodgers finds himself in a tricky spot. He understands why fans are upset. Yet, he hopes for unity. “I really hope both sides can sit down,” Rodgers explained. “They need to respect each other’s views and find a way forward so we can all be together again.” Rodgers stressed the importance of a packed stadium. “For me, that’s what Celtic is all about, an incredible club whose history rests on the fans and what they mean,” he added. “I get the frustrations, but I still hope the stadium is full.”

Focusing on the upcoming opponent, Rodgers offered his thoughts on Sp. Braga. “Sp. Braga started this competition with a good win against Feyenoord,” he noted. “Like many Portuguese clubs, they are very organized. I believe they play with a 3-4-3 formation.” Rodgers also pointed out that Sp. Braga’s current domestic league form is not great, but he called that “irrelevant” for this European match. “They have talented players and a good young coach,” he concluded. “This will be a proper challenge for us.”
