Pedro Neto: Chelsea Showed Resilience Against Benfica, But Needed More Late Control

Pedro Neto with Reece James

Pedro Neto, a standout performer for Chelsea, played a crucial role in their recent win against Benfica. Speaking with TNT Sports after the final whistle, he shared some honest thoughts. While the Blues felt pressure late, Neto gave his team high marks for their overall effort. He felt they managed the match well, despite the late jitters.

Neto opened up about their previous outing, a tough match against Bayern. He explained that the squad put in a lot of effort to fix what went wrong. “Our team’s grit really shined through today,” he noted. “We played a really good game.” He did admit, however, that they could have shown more control towards the end. “Given our talent, we should have held onto the ball better,” Neto remarked. Still, securing three points against a challenging Benfica side was the main goal. “They’re a tough opponent. We knew we had to really graft for this one. We did well.”

Another point of pride for Neto was keeping a clean sheet. Chelsea kept Benfica off the scoreboard, a big win for the defense. “Not letting them score is huge,” he said. “It always puts us closer to winning.” He believes the team showed real potential. “We proved what we’re capable of,” Neto added. “But deep down, I know we can be even better.”
