Portuguese golfer Ricardo Melo Gouveia faced a challenge at the French Open this past Friday. He couldn’t quite make the ‘cut’ to play in the later rounds of the DP World Tour event. The tournament is being held in Paris, attracting some top talent from around the world.
Melo Gouveia finished his first two rounds with a total of 148 strokes. This score placed him in a tie for 133rd among all the competitors. The target score, known as the cut line, was set at 142 strokes. He ended up six shots short of reaching that mark.
During his second round, Melo Gouveia carded a score of 74. This meant he was three strokes over the course’s par for the day. His scorecard for that round included three birdies, which are great scores, but also four bogeys and one double bogey. These higher scores made it tough to catch up.
As the tournament continues, England’s Marcus Armitage currently holds the lead. He has played brilliantly, sitting at a total of 132 strokes. Close behind him is Australia’s Lee Ming You, who is in second place with 134 strokes.
