Assam CM Reveals Zubeen Garg Death Cause: Swam Without Life Jacket in Singapore

The music world is still reeling from the sudden passing of beloved singer Zubeen Garg. Fans everywhere were heartbroken and searching for answers about what happened. Now, Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has shared a crucial update that sheds light on the tragic incident.

Speaking from Zubeen Garg’s home after meeting his family, the Chief Minister confirmed the details. He told reporters that the singer died while swimming in Singapore. The key detail is that Zubeen Garg was reportedly without a life jacket at the time. This information came from Shilpak Ambule, India’s High Commissioner in Singapore, who spoke directly with the Chief Minister.

A Group Outing Turns Tragic

The Chief Minister shared more about the events leading up to the singer’s death. He mentioned that Zubeen Garg was part of a group of 18 people on a boat trip. They were all swimming together. Though lifeguards had urged everyone to wear life jackets, Zubeen Garg apparently did not. Some time later, he was found floating in the water. Lifeguards quickly performed CPR. He was then rushed to Singapore General Hospital but was sadly declared dead there.

Chief Minister Sarma also revealed that the High Commissioner sent him a list of the people who were with Zubeen Garg. This group included 11 individuals, among them Abhimanyu Talukdar, a member of the Assamese community living in Singapore who booked the boat. The list also had four members of Zubeen Garg’s team and two crew members from the boat.

Next Steps: Post-mortem and Public Viewing

The High Commissioner informed the Chief Minister that a post-mortem examination of the body is scheduled for Saturday. Authorities hope Zubeen Garg’s body will return to his home country by Saturday evening. Since everyone who accompanied the singer is an Indian citizen, Chief Minister Sarma plans to contact the Union Home Ministry. He wants to discuss the proper procedure for an inquiry. He emphasized that the people of the state deserve to know exactly what happened to their famous singer.

Upon its arrival, Zubeen Garg’s body will be placed at Sarusajai Stadium for the public to pay their final respects. The Chief Minister added that all other funeral arrangements will be made once the body is back. The singer’s family has expressed that Zubeen Garg belongs to the people of the state. Because of this, they believe the public should have a say in how his last rites are performed.
