The latest box office figures are in, and what a weekend it has been! Friday, September 5, brought a rush of new movies to theaters. We saw big local releases like ‘Baaghi 4’ and ‘The Bengal Files’. Plus, ‘Madrasi’ and ‘Ufff Yeh Siyapaa’ also hit the screens. But a Hollywood horror flick, ‘The Conjuring Last Rites’, truly stole the show.
Amidst all this excitement, ‘The Conjuring Last Rites’ emerged as the undisputed champion. This Hollywood horror film had a fantastic first day. It pulled in a whopping ₹17.5 crore across the board. In Hindi-speaking regions, it alone made ₹6.35 crore. That’s quite impressive, especially considering it was up against popular films like ‘Baaghi 4’ and ‘The Bengal Files’. On its second day, Saturday, the film continued its strong run. It added another ₹11.66 crore to its earnings. This brings its total to ₹29.16 crore so far. However, some critics mentioned that you might get tired waiting for the scary parts. They agree that strong acting really carried the film.
The South Indian film ‘Dil Madraasi’ also made a splash. It had a great opening day with audiences responding well. On Friday, it earned ₹13.3 crore. Its strong performance continued on Saturday. The film brought in ₹8.45 crore on its second day. This means ‘Dil Madraasi’ has already earned a grand total of ₹21.75 crore in just two days. A.R. Murugadoss directed this movie. It features Sivakarthikeyan, Rukmini Vasanth, and Vidyut Jammwal in key roles. The story is all about political revenge. Critics, though, thought the action was a bit over the top, and the story was just average.
Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra’s ‘Param Sundari’ has now completed nine days in cinemas as of Saturday. This film was released earlier, on August 29. It has definitely picked up pace during the weekend. On Friday, it collected ₹1.75 crore. Then, on Saturday, it earned ₹2 crore. The total box office collection for ‘Param Sundari’ now stands at ₹43.50 crore. It’s getting closer to covering its production budget. However, we still don’t have any box office numbers for ‘Ufff Yeh Siyapaa’, which also opened on September 5.
