So, what exactly went down? Boney Kapoor, speaking on the ‘Game Changer’ podcast, put the blame squarely on the film’s producer. He recalled that SS Rajamouli himself came to their home to meet Sridevi for ‘Baahubali’. Rajamouli even called himself a big fan of hers. But once Rajamouli left, the producer made a surprising offer. He presented Sridevi with a very low fee. Come on, Sridevi was a huge star, not some newcomer trying to make her way!
Boney believes that having Sridevi in ‘Baahubali’ would have been a massive win for the filmmakers. Her presence would have boosted the movie’s reach in both Hindi and Tamil markets. He thinks the producer actually fed SS Rajamouli some incorrect information. Because of this, Sridevi was later unfairly labeled as unprofessional. Boney says this simply wasn’t true.
Boney Kapoor’s Own Movie Life
Boney Kapoor isn’t just talking about the past. He’s still very much active in Bollywood as a producer. Just last year, he co-produced the movie ‘Maidaan,’ starring Ajay Devgn.
