Manuel Mijares, a true legend in romantic music, found himself at the center of a social media storm recently. People were buzzing about his health and a surprising change in his appearance, especially a noticeable weight loss. But the 67-year-old singer didn’t stay quiet for long; he quickly shared a message to clear things up.
The chatter began after a report from TV Notas magazine. They claimed Mijares had dropped more than 22 kilograms (about 48.5 pounds) in just two and a half months. The magazine suggested he used a strict diet, special medications, and even had surgery. The wildest part? The report hinted that the artist had narrowly escaped a heart attack.
According to TV Notas, someone close to Mijares supposedly said that he made these big lifestyle changes after a serious health warning. This person claimed doctors told him he was “on the verge of a heart attack” and was lucky to have gone for a check-up when he did. They added that it was good he didn’t wait, because “who knows what might have happened” otherwise. The same source also mentioned that Mijares wanted to get healthy so he could spend more time with his children and eventually meet his grandchildren, saying, “He’s still young, 67, and one of his biggest dreams is to meet his grandchildren.”
Mijares Sets the Record Straight on Health Rumors
With all these rumors flying around and causing a stir online, Mijares decided it was time to speak out. He posted a clear message on his official social media pages. In his statement, he firmly denied any talk of being in the hospital or facing a critical health problem.
Here’s what his message said:
“Regarding the recent news published about a supposed hospitalization of Mijares, we want to clarify that this information is completely false. Mijares’ health is very good, thank God. We appreciate your concern and urge you not to be swayed by fake news. Any official information will only be shared through Mijares’ and Alma Show’s social media channels. We regret that news is spread which only causes alarm among the public. We repeat: Mijares is stable and IS NOT hospitalized.”
While the singer’s message didn’t confirm or deny the changes in his weight, it made one thing crystal clear: he’s doing well. It also showed he remains focused on his personal well-being and on sharing his music with the fans who have supported him for decades.
Earlier this year, between March and May, Manuel Mijares was a part of the second season of ‘Juego de Voces,’ a reality show. His daughter, Lucero Mijares, and his ex-wife, Lucero Hogaza – often called “America’s Sweetheart” – also appeared on the show.
