A regular morning in the Jowon-dong area of Seoul’s Gwanak District shattered on September 3. What began as a business meeting quickly turned deadly. A pizza shop owner reportedly attacked a group of contractors with a knife. Three people died in the attack. The owner then harmed himself seriously.
Police and emergency workers raced to the scene around 10:57 AM. A desperate call had come in: “I’ve been stabbed, help!” They found two men and one woman dead inside. These victims are believed to be the contractors handling a nearby renovation. The person responsible, the pizza shop owner, was also found. He had caused himself severe injuries after the attack. Both the injured suspect and the other wounded person were taken to the hospital right away.
Initial findings from the police suggest a business fight led to this tragedy. The pizza shop owner supposedly had problems with the contractors. They were working on a coffee shop right next door. On the day of the incident, the contractors came to the shop. They wanted to talk things over and fix the disagreement. Instead, the meeting exploded into violence.
The coffee shop under renovation looked like a construction zone. It was mostly empty. There were no tables or chairs yet. Only ladders and stray drink cans lay scattered on the floor. These items were likely left by the workers. They were probably used for the ongoing remodeling work.
A shop owner, about 60 years old, from a nearby business, shared what he saw. He mentioned the coffee shop had been closed for months. It was clearly getting a new look. That morning, he saw people he thought were the workers go into the pizza shop. Soon after, the brutal incident happened.
Authorities are now digging deeper into what exactly caused the dispute. They want to understand how a business problem turned into such a terrible loss of life. Investigators are focusing on the conflict between the pizza shop owner and the group working on the coffee shop. This shocking event left three people dead and has many asking why.
