The entertainment world is reeling from the tragic news out of Mexico. TikTok sensation Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay, known for her vibrant online presence, was found dead alongside her entire family. The shocking discovery has left fans and authorities searching for answers.
Esmeralda, 32, her husband Roberto Carlos Gil Licea, 36, and their two children, 13-year-old Gael Santiago and 7-year-old Regina, were found inside a car on August 22. Their identities were officially released on Thursday, August 28, as reported by The Daily Mail.
Authorities believe the family was killed at the scene. Prosecutor Alfonso Gutiérrez Santillán shared on Friday, August 29, that investigators found many clues there. He stated that while forensic reports are not yet final, ballistic and blood evidence strongly suggest they died in that very spot.
The investigation took a strange turn when detectives tracked the family’s vehicle to a mechanic shop. Two men from the shop were brought in for questioning. However, they were later released because there wasn’t enough evidence to hold them.
But the story didn’t end there. As the two men left the prosecutor’s office, another pair was waiting outside. Armed individuals then intercepted the group. They reportedly took three of the men, but one managed to escape. Three of those men are still missing, and police are actively searching for the fourth person to get his side of the story. Prosecutor Blanca Trujillo told The Daily Mail that this wasn’t a random attack. The attackers had been watching the exit for over two hours. They waited until the group had driven a few meters away before carrying out the abduction.
Esmeralda was quite popular on TikTok, boasting more than 41,000 followers. She and her family had moved to the Guadalajara area in Mexico just months before this tragedy. Her husband, Roberto, was involved in buying and selling cars and also grew tomatoes for a living.
Her last TikTok video, shared on August 7, is now a sad memorial. The comments section is full of messages from heartbroken fans. That final post has been viewed over 2.5 million times. Before that, Esmeralda had posted a sweet video of a white Pomeranian puppy playing in the grass with a child running nearby. She simply captioned it “Mi bebé,” which means “my baby.”
Fans have flooded her videos with condolences. One user wrote, “Rest in peace, baby. Does anyone know if the puppy is okay?” Another simply said, “Pobrecita,” meaning “Poor thing.” A third commented, “Rest in peace. 🫶🏽 All their lives matter.” The loss of Esmeralda and her family is truly heartbreaking.
