Rose Johnson here, and there are some stories that just punch you in the gut. This week, the entertainment world is buzzing, but not about a new movie or a red-carpet event. Instead, Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker has once again used her voice to tackle a much darker issue. She’s famous for not shying away from tough topics, and her latest remarks are sparking a serious conversation.
Bhasker recently took to her official X account, formerly Twitter, to express raw anger. She was reacting to the brutal murder of a 35-year-old temple volunteer at the Kalkaji Temple in Delhi. The actress didn’t hold back, calling the incident “ghastly and horrific.” It’s clear this tragedy hit a nerve, and she made sure her followers felt the weight of her words.
What exactly stirred such strong feelings? The incident unfolded late on a Friday night. Yogendra Singh, a temple volunteer who had dedicated about 15 years of his life to the Kalkaji Temple, was at the center of a horrific dispute. The argument started over the distribution of ‘prasad’, a devotional offering. Singh reportedly told a group that the ‘Chunni Prasad’ was finished. This simple statement quickly spiraled out of control.
A Shocking Act of Violence
The disagreement turned violent very fast. According to reports, the group dragged Singh outside the temple. They then attacked him relentlessly, using sticks and their fists. They continued to beat him until he fell unconscious. A deeply unsettling video, reportedly from a CCTV camera, shows the horrifying scene. It captures five or six individuals brutally assaulting the volunteer while he lies helpless on the ground. Swara Bhasker reshared this footage on her X account, adding her sharp commentary.
She wrote, “This is absolutely ghastly and horrific!!! Lynching people to death has become a norm in India… jarring and chilling to the core!!!! Shameful and says something truly disturbing about our society. We’ve turned into monsters.” These strong words underscore the public’s shock and sadness over the increasing violence seen in society. It highlights how important it is for public figures to speak out.

Justice Being Served
Authorities have moved quickly in response to the tragic incident. So far, police have arrested five people connected to Singh’s death. The primary suspect, Atul Pandey, was actually apprehended at the scene by local residents. They held him until police arrived. Officers later confirmed that four other individuals had also been taken into custody. This swift action offers a glimmer of hope for justice in an otherwise heartbreaking story.
