Competitive gaming circles buzzed this weekend after a surprising turn of events. LOUD, a team many thought had faded, delivered a powerful performance. They stepped onto the digital arena, Summoner’s Rift, for the League of Legends Championship of the Americas, known as LTA Sul. Here, they faced FURIA, the current title holders, in a critical lower bracket quarterfinals match on Saturday, August 30th.
FURIA had the championship trophy in their cabinet, proving their dominance in LTA Sul. LOUD, however, hadn’t had a great run in the last season, finishing in 5th or 6th place. Yet, LOUD has a storied past, holding four Brazilian titles. That history seemed to fuel them. They played with a renewed spirit, not at all intimidated by their highly-ranked opponents.
LOUD quickly took control. Jungler Johnson “Gryffinn” Le put on a standout show in the first game, helping his team grab a 1-0 lead. Then, support player Ygor “RedBert” Freitas showed off his skills with Pyke in the next match, leading to a strong 2-0 advantage. The team in green then secured their clean sweep. They managed an impressive “backdoor” play in the final game, winning 3-0 and knocking the reigning champions out of the competition.

Following their big win, LOUD’s official account posted, “THE PLAYOFF LOUD IS HERE! We defied expectations and remain ALIVE in our lower bracket run. We’ve done this before, and we can do it again. Thanks for the support, with you, anything is possible! #goLOUD”. Their message captured the excitement and determination of the team.
What’s next for LOUD? They are set to face RED Canids on September 5th at 1:00 PM, Brasília time. This match is a crucial one. Winning it will earn them a spot in the lower bracket final. More importantly, it secures their place in the Cross-Conference, also known as the Americas Stage. This stage offers a direct path to compete for a spot at the prestigious Worlds 2025 tournament. Fans can catch all the action on the official LTA Sul channels on Twitch and YouTube.
