Hyundai made a significant splash this August, laying out its ambitious plans for hydrogen power. The company shared its comprehensive vision at the 13th World Econometric Society Congress, an important gathering for economic leaders. This event took place at COEX in Seoul, from August 18 to 22, and was a major platform for Hyundai to showcase its future. More than just cars, Hyundai presented a strategy for a hydrogen-powered world.
At this global meeting, Hyundai explained why hydrogen is so important. They see it as a key part of moving towards clean, sustainable energy. To back this up, they highlighted HTWO, their special brand and business platform just for hydrogen.
Through HTWO, Hyundai demonstrated new ways to produce hydrogen. They also shared details about pilot projects already in motion. All of this showed their serious commitment to building a strong system for hydrogen energy.
A star of the show was the updated Hyundai NEXO FCEV. This model received its first full makeover in seven years. It sports a new “Art of Steel” design and distinct “HTWO” lighting. The vehicle offers an impressive range of over 700 kilometers and a strong total power of 190 kW.
With better safety features and interior materials made from sustainable resources, the NEXO proves Hyundai’s dedication. It shows the company’s leading position in moving forward with hydrogen-powered vehicles.
Hyundai’s Big Plans for Hydrogen Travel
The exhibition also used visuals to share Hyundai’s dream for a clean future. They showed how a society could run on hydrogen. Visitors learned about many ways hydrogen could be used across different industries.
People at the event could explore interesting hydrogen production methods. For example, a system in Chungju extracts hydrogen from biogas at a waste conversion plant. Another facility in Buan makes hydrogen using electrolysis, which involves electricity.
Hyundai also put its hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles on display. This included the XCIENT Fuel Cell Truck and the Elec City and Universe Fuel Cell buses. These vehicles highlight how far the company has come in building a complete system for hydrogen transportation.

The World Econometric Society Congress happens only every five years. It’s known as the largest global academic conference focused on statistical analysis in economics.
With Korea hosting the event this year, Hyundai used the opportunity well. They showed how their hydrogen technologies and travel options help global efforts. These efforts aim for a cleaner, healthier future for everyone.
The Hyundai Motor Group is speeding up the move to a hydrogen society through HTWO. This is their dedicated brand and business plan for hydrogen solutions.
HTWO covers all steps of the hydrogen process: from making it and storing it to using it. It’s growing into an open platform that encourages teamwork, money, and new business deals. This strengthens Hyundai Group’s role in setting up a lasting hydrogen economy.
