Early on a Wednesday, a grim discovery shocked a quiet corner of Montevideo. A taxi driver, passing near Camino Ombú and Camino Repetto, spotted something unusual. He saw a body, partly burned and hidden among the weeds along a neighborhood road. This unsettling find was close to the Manga area. He quickly alerted the authorities.
Forensic experts later confirmed the man’s identity. He was 33 years old. Records showed he had a past with law enforcement, specifically for theft and robbery. Investigators from the Homicide Department quickly formed a theory. They believe the man was likely killed somewhere else. His body was then brought to the spot where the taxi driver found him.
Homicide personnel wasted no time. They carefully examined all the clues at hand. Their quick work led them to some immediate conclusions. A specific couple soon became the primary suspects in this grim case. Police believe they are responsible for the man’s death.
By Friday, police were ready to act. They carried out raids, hoping to find and arrest the suspected couple. However, the suspects managed to evade capture during these operations. Despite this, the police did not leave empty-handed. They gathered important evidence during the searches. These new clues will surely help move the investigation forward.
The legal side of this serious matter falls to Prosecutor Mirta Morales. As the Second-turn Homicide Prosecutor, she is now leading the ongoing investigation.
