Ed Kelce Reveals Secret Bush Spectators at Travis Kelce Taylor Swift Proposal

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift thought their engagement was a sweet, private moment. Turns out, their romantic proposal actually had a few extra pairs of eyes watching the whole thing unfold. We’re talking about secret garden spectators.

Travis’s dad, Ed Kelce, was the one who spilled the beans. He recently shared how his son’s big question almost got derailed by some helpful people who had to quickly dive for cover. It’s quite the story!

On Tuesday, August 26, 74-year-old Ed chatted on the Australian show The Jimmy & Nath Show with Emma. He explained that Travis and Taylor were all set to leave for dinner. Travis, who is 35, suggested they grab a quick glass of wine first. He led 35-year-old Swift out to the outdoor patio at their Kansas City home.

As they stepped outside, Taylor started noticing things. “I think she knew something was up,” Ed said. She saw “many more flowers” than usual. The patio was decorated beautifully, a clear sign that this wasn’t just any regular night out.

Ed explained that Travis has a team of people who help him with many tasks. These helpers were busy setting up all the pretty decorations. They worked quickly to get everything just right. In fact, they were rushing to finish the flower arrangements.

Then came the funny part. The helpers saw Travis and Taylor walking their way. They quickly had to hide! “They actually saw Travis and Taylor getting close,” Ed recalled. “They hid in the bushes to make sure they weren’t part of it.” Imagine peeking out from behind a shrub as a superstar couple gets engaged!

The couple later shared their happy news on Instagram, also on Tuesday, August 26. Their post featured a carousel of photos from the garden proposal. The caption was super cute and playful: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨.”

Ed later spoke with ABC affiliate News 5 Cleveland that same Tuesday. He revealed the proposal had happened “just under two weeks ago.” Travis had actually planned to wait a bit longer. He wanted to make it a huge, special event.

But Ed had some fatherly advice for his son. “I kept telling him, you know, you could do it on the side of the road,” Ed said. “You can do it anywhere that makes it special… when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.”

Right after the big moment, Travis and Taylor called their parents. Ed shared that he and his ex-wife, Donna Kelce, both received video calls. “They started video-calling me, his mom, and her parents to make sure everyone knew,” Ed told News 5 Cleveland. He added, “Seeing them together is just great.”

Ed remembered getting his call while he was at a Philadelphia Eagles practice. “The moment I saw the video call, I knew it was Travis,” Ed recalled. “Then I saw Taylor there with him.” He already had a feeling what they were going to say. “And, well, they let us know!”
