Jennifer Lopez is soaking up the sun this summer, and her daughter Emme is right there with her. The superstar recently gave fans a peek into their Hamptons getaway.
Lopez posted a sweet selfie on Instagram, snapped by vocal coach Stevie Mackey. The picture shows Lopez and Emme, who is 17, relaxing in the back seat of a car. It was Sunday, August 24, and both were all smiles for the camera. Emme even rested a hand gently on her mom’s shoulder.
The 56-year-old artist also shared more summer vibes. She uploaded several photos of herself looking fresh in an all-white outfit. In these shots, Lopez posed playfully on a bicycle. Her caption read, "Le Sunshine ☀️," and she tagged "@BlueJayBikes." It looked like a perfect day out.
Lopez is a proud mom to Emme and her twin brother, Max. Their father is her ex-husband, Marc Anthony. Lopez and Anthony were married from 2004 until their divorce was finalized in 2014. Later, Lopez reconnected with actor Ben Affleck, and they tied the knot in 2022. The couple finalized their divorce earlier this year. However, Lopez also shared that she sat down with her children when she filed for divorce from Affleck, 53, in August 2024.
Months after these events, Lopez opened up about her year and the special bond she shares with her children. She reflected on a challenging period during an interview with El País in May. "I had a very difficult year. Unexpected things happened," she told the publication. "So, I read many books. I did a lot of introspection." She explained her focus on spiritual growth and family unity. "I meditated. I prayed a lot. I wanted to improve my relationship with God. I wanted to somehow consolidate the family unit that my two children, my twins, and I are."
She made sure to talk to Emme and Max when she filed for divorce from Affleck. "I told them: ‘I promise you, this is a difficult time, but you will see that I will come out on the other side stronger and better.’ I promised them that, and I delivered," she shared. "And now they feel it. That gives me great peace in my life."
Lopez continued to speak about her journey of self-discovery. "I read many books about childhood, marriage, relationships, different love styles, the brain, science…" she said. "And over the years, I’ve done individual, couple, family therapy. I’ve had it all, I’m always searching for answers. I believe it’s all about learning about oneself. It’s all about knowing oneself. You have to be ready for that. And you have to want it. And even when you want it, it’s difficult to change certain things. But you can."
Today, Lopez feels happier because she’s grown so much. She said she is "one step further" than she was years ago. "I am proud of myself for that, and I am proud to have been able to guide my children through difficult times, so that they are stronger and better because of it," she stated. "So, it’s a great time to go out, dance, sing, and have a good time with everyone."
