Kate Middleton Debuts Blonder Hair at Scotland Royal Family Church Outing

Princess Kate Middleton recently showed off a dazzling new hair color, sporting lighter, blonder tones that seem to perfectly match the upcoming season’s feel.

She was spotted on Sunday, August 24, heading to a church service in Scotland. Kate, who is 43, rode alongside her husband, Prince William. They were on their way to Crathie Kirk, a charming church located near the royal family’s Balmoral residence.

Their three children were right there with them in the car: Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7. King Charles III and his wife Queen Camilla arrived in a separate vehicle for the service.

In photos from the day, Kate looked elegant in a dark coat and a matching hat. Her long, bright hair truly glowed in the sunlight. William, on his part, was dressed smartly in a navy suit paired with a light blue tie.

This isn’t the first time Kate has brightened up her look this year. Her hair appeared to get more highlights after she celebrated her 14th wedding anniversary with William in April. She also sported a lighter shade when she attended Wimbledon in July.

Jennifer Korab, a well-known stylist, shared her thoughts on Kate’s fresh hue. She explained to Marie Claire earlier this year that this mix of brown and blonde shades is very popular right now. It gives a soft, natural dimension and a sunny glow, which is great for warmer months.

Korab added that Kate’s hair color is a chic, easy way to lighten up without losing a polished, sophisticated style. It looks effortlessly modern. She called it "a striking and very timely transformation."

Kate has tried many different hairstyles throughout her time in the public eye. For her wedding to William in 2011, she chose a beautiful half-updo. This was paired with a lace-trimmed veil, a sparkling diamond tiara, and her famous Alexander McQueen wedding gown. Years later, at the British Academy Film Awards in 2017, she wore a voluminous beehive updo. It went perfectly with a floral, off-the-shoulder black Alexander McQueen dress.

Interestingly, a source told The Sun in 2020 that Kate began coloring her own hair during the COVID-19 pandemic. She even started cutting her children’s hair herself back then. The Princess of Wales recently shared in 2024 that she had been diagnosed with cancer. She then stepped back from public duties to receive chemotherapy. Later that same year, she announced that her treatment had finished, and she is now in remission.

The source added, "Kate does use an at-home dye from Richard." This refers to royal stylist Richard Ward. They noted that she usually got products from his salon between her appointments. However, during that particular lockdown, her package was much larger than usual.
