Nelly Furtado recently made it clear she’s not here for body shaming. The iconic singer fired back at critics during her show in Manchester, England, sending a message of pure confidence.
The 46-year-old star stole the spotlight at Manchester Pride on Sunday, August 24. For her performance, Furtado rocked an oversized T-shirt that spoke volumes. The top featured an hourglass figure graphic. Below it, the bold phrase “Better Than Ever” was emblazoned across the lower back. From the front, her outfit gave the illusion of a blue bra over a white crop top, paired with a blue mini-skirt. She completed her edgy look with black stockings that had cool stamp and rhinestone details, plus matching boots.
Furtado’s glam was just as striking as her clothes. She sported glowing foundation, bright pink blush, smoky eyeshadow, and a sharp winged eyeliner. Long lashes framed her eyes perfectly. Her brown hair was styled with a middle part, slicked back at the top, and the rest flowed into a sleek braid. To top it all off, she added clear earrings, purple fingerless gloves, and shiny hair clips, showing off her unique style.

This isn’t the first time Furtado has showcased her confident stage style. Earlier, at the Big Festival de Glastonbury in the UK, she rocked a pleated mini-skirt and a bra-like top. She paired that look with knee-high boots and layers of silvery accessories, proving her fashion game is always on point.
Embracing Body Positivity
Furtado has often spoken about loving her body and embracing a “body neutrality” mindset. In January, she kicked off the New Year by sharing a bikini selfie on her Instagram page. The neon orange swimsuit featured structured cups and a halter top, plus a high-waisted bottom with adjustable laces on the sides.
She used the post to share some honest thoughts with her fans. “This year, I became aware of the aesthetic pressure of my job in a completely new way,” she wrote. “At the same time, I experienced new levels of self-love and genuine confidence from within.” She also wanted to clear up any rumors. “For anyone interested, I’ve never had facial or body surgeries or augmentations,” she explained, “except for veneers on my upper row of teeth, recently.” Furtado also mentioned she hadn’t tried “injections or facial or lip fillers.”
She wrapped up her New Year’s message for 2025 with an empowering message. “My New Year’s message for 2025 is: express yourself freely, celebrate your individuality, and know that it’s perfectly fine to be okay with what you see in the mirror,” she stated. “It’s also okay to want something different.” She ended with a sweet reminder: “We are all adorable little human beings just wandering around Earth looking for hugs.”
