The cameras are rolling once more in the bustling Telugu film industry. After two weeks of quiet sets and halted productions, the film workers’ strike has finally ended. A major agreement with producers brought relief to the entire industry on Thursday. This means lights, camera, and action are back on!
Work had completely stopped across the Telugu film scene for about two weeks. The prolonged strike deeply affected countless projects. Filmmakers and production houses faced significant delays. Everyone wondered when the impasse would end.
The breakthrough came with an important agreement between the film workers and producers. State labor department officials helped bring both sides together. Their presence helped seal the deal. Besides a wage hike, producers also agreed to some other demands made by the workers.
A New Wage Deal
A senior official from the labor department, Gangadhar, confirmed the details to the news agency PTI. The workers’ federation had initially asked for a 30% wage increase. They wanted this increase to cover the last three years. Earlier talks failed to find common ground. This forced the labor department to step in and mediate.
After intense negotiations, a compromise was finally reached. Both the workers and producers agreed on a 22.5% wage increase. This is a significant bump for the hardworking crew. Gangadhar further explained how the increase will be applied. For those workers earning lower salaries, there will be specific raises. They will see increases of 15%, 2.5%, and 5% over the past three years.
This resolution brings a welcome end to a challenging period. The industry can now resume its creative journey. It also shows the power of negotiation when all parties work together for a common goal.
