More than two decades ago, Adrián Uribe first appeared on Hispanic television. He was dressed as a tamale vendor on the show Despierta América. Today, at 51, he’s back on screen with one of his most popular characters, El Vítor. This time, he’s starring in a new game show called Piensa Rápido. It mixes humor, quick thinking, and pop culture fun.
Uribe chuckled in an exclusive chat with Us Weekly. "Now all I need is to sell tamales like I did when I started on Despierta América," he said. He looked back fondly at his first job with the Univision network. "What’s happened with my career has been better than I ever imagined."
A New Show Format with a Classic Character
Piensa Rápido offers a fresh, fast-paced game. It’s different from Uribe’s last show, 100 Mexicanos Dijieron, which he also hosted as El Vítor. In this new show, contestants finish incomplete sentences with the most popular answers. "It’s a completely different format," Uribe explained. "The great thing is it has lots of fun and comedy. Plus, both regular families and VIP guests take part."
The show airs Monday through Friday on UniMás. Special celebrity versions air Sundays on Univision. Uribe didn’t share the full list of stars yet. But he did drop some names we might see on screen. "For example, Claudia Martín, Arturo Carmona, or Alan Tacher," he said. "We’ll have many top-level guests."
We got a peek at the real Adrián in a quick Q&A session, just like on his show:
- Food always in your fridge:
I always have salsas and avocado in my refrigerator. - Your weirdest childhood nickname:
As a kid, they called me “Yucateco por cabezón” (Yucatan for big-headed). - What was the best nickname you gave someone and why?
I gave the most creative nickname to a teacher: “El Chorrito” (The Little Stream). He would act big, then act small. He walked very funny. - The craziest thing a fan has ever said to you:
The craziest phrase a fan told me was: “¡Hazme un hijo!” (Make me a child!). - Favorite place to sneak away with Thuany (his wife):
I hide everywhere because I really like to scare her. (6:34) So, I’m always hiding from her, but usually in the closet (referring to Brazilian model Thuany Martins). - Something your children taught you lately:
They teach me every day, everything. They teach me, well, to lead by example, right? Before I tell them to do something, before I tell them to do anything, I have to be an example first. - The person who makes you laugh the most off-camera?Oh! My wife makes me laugh a lot. My children make me laugh a lot. My mom is very funny.
- If you weren’t an actor, you’d be…
I would have liked to be a soccer player. - Who do you prefer: La Nacaranda (Consuelo Duval) or María de los Ángeles (his wife in *Casados con Hijos*)?
Nacaranda.
- Tacos al pastor or gringas?
Al pastor.
25 Years of El Vítor: The Living Cartoon’s Legacy
Uribe is a versatile performer, but El Vítor remains his signature character. In 2025, the character turns 25 years old. His popularity is still very strong. "I feel like what singers feel when their fans sing their songs," he shared. He remembers children and adults dressing up as El Vítor for parties or Halloween. They also send him photos and videos in his character on social media. "That’s when you know the character has really stuck around."
A Packed Schedule: Theater, Movies, and More
Uribe just finished his run in the musical comedy Spamalot. He also confirmed there will be second and third seasons of Casados con Hijos (Married with Children). He stars in that show with Sandra Echeverría. "We’re going to start filming the third season this September," he revealed. He also hopes his cooking docuseries, Al Chile, will get more episodes. "They aren’t confirmed, but I think it’s doing very well," he said.
And if that wasn’t enough, he also completed filming a new movie with María León. That film will hit theaters in 2026. "That’s the project currently on the horizon," he confirmed.
