Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas aren’t just Hollywood royalty; they’re true real estate moguls. This power couple owns a collection of impressive homes around the globe. It seems they know how to live in style, but also with comfort.
In August 2025, Zeta-Jones spoke with The Times about their four properties. She noted they have two homes in New York, one in Canada, and another in Spain. She told the publication, "I know it sounds very jet set, and I love being surrounded by beauty, but it’s not excessive, it’s very comfortable." This offers a peek into how these stars manage their life together.
Inside Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas’s Spanish Retreat
Zeta-Jones shared with The Times that their Spanish home offers a much-needed break from the Hollywood spotlight. It’s a place for quiet time. She reflected on navigating fame as a couple, saying, "Two famous people together make 10. That’s how it is. There are two versions of the story and two fantasies." She added, "We don’t pay attention to the nonsense written about us, that’s the main thing. And we respect our space, we are independent spirits. We are very similar; we were born on the same day, 25 years apart. We are not afraid to express what we feel. I am very open and so is he, which is good."
Their Mallorcan estate, known as S’Estaca, is steeped in history. It was built in the 19th century and covers more than 80 hectares. Austrian Archduke Ludwig Salvator acquired the property in the mid-1800s. He added several buildings and features during his time there.
Douglas bought the house on Mallorca’s northwest coast in 1990. At the time, he owned it with his then-wife, Diandra Luker, for $3.5 million. After their divorce in 2000, Douglas and Luker shared the Mallorca home for a period. Luker eventually moved out.

Douglas and Zeta-Jones married in 2000. They have since regularly visited the Mallorca home with their children. Douglas has a son, Cameron, with Luker. He shares son Dylan and daughter Carys with Zeta-Jones.
"It was very uncomfortable sharing the house in S’Estaca with my ex-wife, Diandra," Douglas told Ultima Hora in August 2021. He explained, "Six months for each of us were not pleasant for anyone. Now that everything is settled and the house is 100% ours, Catherine’s and mine, I can say that I never wanted to leave."
The couple briefly put their Spanish home up for sale in 2019. Douglas even narrated a video to promote it. This video, shared on the Billions Luxury Portal YouTube account, showcased the property’s rich history and stunning views.
"Many of my friends have stayed at S’Estaca, and we have enjoyed wonderful times together," Douglas said in the video. "S’Estaca has its own olive groves and vineyards, and, of course, an excellent winery to store the award-winning wine." He continued, "For the last 30 years, I’ve made my mark on the place. I modernized and redecorated the old buildings constructed by the Archduke. The estate now features seven independent buildings that house five apartments and ten separate rooms."
Douglas and Zeta-Jones eventually pulled the property off the market in 2020. Douglas told Ultima Hora, "I love coming back to Mallorca. I have been coming for more than 30 years. Over time, I have learned that ‘Happy wife, happy life’." He added, "Catherine, my wife, is very happy here; even more so now that we no longer share the house with my first wife, Diandra. Now she feels much more comfortable. She is decorating the house in her own way. That makes me happy, seeing her truly happy here, in our home and with our friends."
Douglas also mentioned that the Mallorca estate holds a special place for his children and grandchildren. "My children will keep coming, and my grandchildren and their children," he stated. "I am sure this island will be theirs for generations. This house belongs to my family and will continue to do so. Cameron, Dylan, and Carys love it. My daughter speaks Spanish perfectly."

In 2005, Douglas and Zeta-Jones purchased a home in Mont Tremblant, Quebec, Canada. This property was a perfect fit for the couple, who love skiing and sharing snow adventures with their children.
Their real estate agent at the time, Michael Clark, told The Globe and Mail, "They like the climate, they like the culture, and the proximity to Bermuda."

The couple decided to sell their $12 million home in Westchester County, New York, in June 2024. They originally bought the house for $4.5 million in 2019. The reason for the sale? Their children have moved out.
"When I bought our home in Irvington, I knew our family would share many happy moments here, and it has," Zeta-Jones told The Wall Street Journal at the time. "Now that our son and daughter have both moved on, it seems like the right time to sell." She also shared that she and her husband "plan to spend more time in Bermuda and Europe."
Before that, the couple listed their Upper West Side Manhattan home for $21.5 million in July 2021. This apartment, styled like a 12th-century English castle, features four bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms. It also boasts a library, a chef’s kitchen, and a dining room. The Central Park West apartment has since been taken off the market, according to The Wall Street Journal.
