There’s fresh buzz in the tennis world, especially for Portuguese fans. Francisco Cabral just hit a career high. He jumped into the world’s top 30 in men’s doubles for the very first time.

This week, he sits at number 29. His partner, Austrian Lucas Miedler, is right there at 28. They had a great run last week at the Cincinnati Masters 1000. Reaching the quarterfinals really boosted their standing. For Cabral, this marks his fourth straight climb in the rankings. He’s definitely on a roll.
While Cabral is soaring, some other Portuguese players saw shifts. Nuno Borges, for example, slipped a bit in singles. He’s now outside the top 40, landing at 42nd. But it wasn’t all down arrows for the men. Jaime Faria moved up to 118th. Henrique Rocha also gained ground, reaching 168th. These younger players are certainly making their mark.
Looking at the very top of men’s singles, things stayed put. Italy’s Jannik Sinner remains the world number one. Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz is still second; ironically, they’re playing in the Cincinnati final today. German Alexander Zverev holds steady at number three.
The women’s rankings also saw no major changes at the top. Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus is still number one. American Coco Gauff is second. Poland’s Jessica Pegula rounds out the top three. For Portuguese women, Francisca Jorge leads the pack. She’s currently ranked 228th in the world.
