Scocco Blasts Boca Fans For Cavani Disrespect, Calls Him Global Figure

Edinson Cavani celebrates with the Boca jersey

It is tough being a legend. Fans cheer your goals. They sing your name. But sometimes, they turn on you quickly. This is often the case when a star player doesn’t score every game. Edinson Cavani, the Boca Juniors forward, knows this feeling well. Even a player with his history can face harsh words.

That is why Ignacio Scocco spoke up. The 40-year-old former forward appeared on the program ‘Gol Gana’. He did not hesitate to defend Cavani. Scocco once played for River Plate, Boca’s big rival. But team lines did not matter to him here. He simply cannot understand how fans disrespect a player like Cavani.

“I get annoyed by how people treat him,” Scocco said. “What a lack of common sense. I have huge respect for Cavani. He is a global figure.” Scocco was talking about the recent criticism. Boca fans have been demanding more from the 38-year-old goal scorer. They seem to forget his long, brilliant career.

Scocco even made a strong comparison. He brought up Gonzalo Higuaín. Higuaín, often called “Pipa,” faced similar rough treatment. Some fans of the Argentine national team almost treated him like an enemy. “What is happening with Cavani, in some ways, reminds me of what happened with Pipa,” Scocco added. “I think it is a massive lack of respect.” It seems some fans forget that even the best players have off days. Respect for a player’s history should last longer.
