The buzz around actor Vijay Deverakonda’s film ‘Samrajya’ isn’t just about its story. This South Indian movie has stirred up controversy. It faces claims of wrongly showing Tamil identity.
Amidst this debate, authorities took a significant step. The Tamil Nadu police announced a plan. They will provide security to cinemas screening ‘Samrajya.’ This protection will be given if it’s needed. The Madras High Court officially recorded this police statement.
SSI Production’s Plea for Protection
This official promise came during a court hearing. It happened when a petition from M/s SSI Production was heard. SSI Production had asked police officials for help. They wanted police protection for theaters. Their aim was to ensure peaceful screenings of ‘Samrajya.’
They also requested that disruptive groups be stopped. These groups should not interfere with the film’s legal display. The production house simply sought a safe environment for their movie.

The High Court’s Stand
The High Court judge issued a clear order. He stated that the Censor Board certified the film. Once certified, no outside group can stop its screening. The movie has a right to be shown publicly.
The judge also made a point about threats. If any person or group issues threats, action must be taken. This ensures freedom of expression in cinema.
The Right to Protest Lawfully
The High Court also addressed protesting groups. Seeman, the leader of ‘Naam Tamilar Katchi,’ can voice his party’s disagreement. His workers can also protest. However, they need to get police permission first.
The judge further explained their rights. People have freedom to express opposing views. But such actions must always be lawful. Protests must happen within legal boundaries.
