Actor Abhay Shankar Jha Duped of Rs 17 Lakh in Mumbai Note Exchange Scam

In a shocking turn of events, actor Abhay Shankar Jha, known for his work in various TV serials and Hindi films, has become the victim of a clever fraud. The seasoned performer recently filed a complaint with Mumbai Police, reporting a loss of approximately 17 lakh rupees. It seems even stars can get caught in elaborate scams designed to trick people out of their hard-earned money.

Mumbai Police shared details on Thursday, confirming that four individuals tricked the 43-year-old actor. The scam involved a promise to exchange 500-rupee notes for 100-rupee notes. According to a police official cited by PTI, Abhay Shankar Jha lodged his complaint at the Matunga Police Station on Wednesday. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with this case.

How the Scam Unfolded

The story began when one of the accused, Roshan Kumar, offered financial help to Abhay Shankar Jha. The actor had told Roshan that he needed a significant amount, 5 crore rupees, to fund an upcoming film project. On June 26, Roshan Kumar introduced Abhay Shankar Jha to Mahendra Kumar, who then promised to secure the film’s funding. This seemed like a dream come true for the actor.

However, the plot soon thickened. On July 31, Roshan Kumar contacted Abhay again with a peculiar request. He explained that Mahendra needed to send 17 lakh rupees in 500-rupee notes to his village for a wedding. Roshan also mentioned that Mahendra was willing to exchange 100-rupee notes for 500-rupee notes. Believing this was part of the larger deal, Abhay Shankar Jha agreed to arrange the money.

The crucial moment arrived on August 4. Mahendra Kumar’s friend took a person named Ayush Jha to a coffee shop in Wadala. There, Ayush Jha handed over bundles of 500-rupee notes to an individual named Ramesh. The exchange seemed to be taking place. However, as soon as they stepped outside and crossed the street, Ramesh simply ran off with the cash. The money was gone, and the elaborate scheme became painfully clear.

No Arrests Made Yet

Distraught, actor Abhay Shankar Jha tried to contact Mahendra Kumar and Roshan Kumar. Initially, they assured him that his money would be returned. But soon after, their phones went unanswered. Realizing he had been duped, Abhay Shankar Jha quickly reported the incident to the police. Authorities confirm that the investigation is currently underway. However, despite the detailed complaint and the clear sequence of events, police have yet to make any arrests in this high-profile fraud case.
