India Film Industry Drive: Centre Urges States to Build Low-Cost Cinemas, Enhance Locations.

Big news for film lovers and filmmakers alike! The central government has asked states to open more movie theaters in smaller towns. This move aims to bring the joy of the big screen to more people. States are also encouraged to use platforms like “Waves Bazaar” to show off their best spots for filming movies.

Union Minister L. Murugan shared these exciting plans. He spoke at a recent meeting with information and public relations officials from many states. He explained that the “India Cine Hub” portal is now a single place for all film permits and needs. This means getting permission to shoot a movie anywhere across the nation will be much simpler.

Making Movies Easier and More Widespread

The goal is to create policies that are truly film-friendly. Minister Murugan, according to PTI, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership focuses on these policies. He noted that using GIS mapping tools can help the movie business grow by identifying prime locations. The recent meeting also worked to improve how the central government and states work together on public messaging. They also want to make sure the “Press Seva” portal and “India Cine Hub” are working well. A big part of the plan is to build up the needed movie infrastructure.

Bringing Movies to Every Corner

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has even suggested a plan for movable and adaptable movie screens. These “mobile cinema” setups are meant for smaller cities, towns, and villages. During the meeting, officials discussed using GIS mapping to find places that don’t have many movie screens. The idea is to reuse old buildings and get people to invest in affordable movie theater setups through a single easy system.

Boosting Local Talent and Content

Sanjay Jaju, the Secretary of Information and Broadcasting, also spoke up. He stressed the need to support digital creators and local news. He also wants district-level information and public relations efforts to be stronger. Jaju asked all states to join the “Press Seva” portal. He emphasized the business side of movies and creating content. He wants local talent to shine, not just those from big cities. That’s why the “India Cine Hub” was started—to help filmmaking and content creation grow. Ultimately, this meeting aimed to teach state and union territory officials about the “Press Seva” portal and get them involved.
