The recent buzz around the National Film Awards brought out a wave of excitement. Big names like Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, and Vikrant Massey took home top acting honors. But amid all the celebration, a popular TV star is speaking her mind. Rupali Ganguly, known for her hit show “Anupamaa,” has a special request for the government. She also shared some strong thoughts about actress-turned-politician Smriti Irani.
Rupali Ganguly recently sat down for an interview with a paparazzi Instagram page. She opened up about her feelings regarding the National Awards. She pointed out that film stars and content creators get these awards. But, she noted, there are no National Awards for TV artists.
A Call for Recognition
Rupali emphasized the hard work of those in television. “Everyone gets National Awards,” she said. “Film people get them, content creators get them. But TV people don’t get any National Awards.” She shared a powerful example. “We even worked during the COVID pandemic,” she explained. “If a film star works constantly, it becomes big news. But we TV people worked during COVID, and it didn’t make headlines.” Rupali clearly feels that TV artists deserve more. “I ask the government,” she urged, “our work should also be encouraged. We also work very hard.”

Smriti Irani’s Return to TV
Rupali Ganguly also expressed joy over Smriti Irani’s return to television. Smriti Irani made her comeback through the serial ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2’. Rupali mentioned that Smriti’s show is on the same channel as hers. “Now that Smriti ji has returned to TV,” Rupali noted, “people’s attention will turn to TV actors. People will notice those who work in television.” This suggests a hope that a big name like Smriti Irani can help shine a spotlight on the entire TV industry.

“Anupamaa” Still a Fan Favorite
It’s worth noting that Rupali Ganguly’s own serial, “Anupamaa,” is hugely popular on TV. The show consistently ranks among the top 5 on the TRP charts. In fact, “Anupamaa” secured the top spot in the 29th week’s TRP list. The series tells the inspiring story of a regular woman named Anupamaa and her dreams. It seems like Rupali is a perfect voice to speak up for the hard work that goes into creating daily television magic.
