Froholdt Reveals FC Porto Project, Title Ambitions After Record Transfer

Victor Froholdt is truly making a name for himself. He arrived at FC Porto for a hefty price tag, 20 million from Copenhagen. But so far, that money looks like a smart play. His great game against Twente and his goal against Famalicão show just how quickly he’s settled in. This 19-year-old Danish international is winning over the blue and white fans fast. It seems he was just as eager to join the Dragons.

Froholdt himself spoke about his choice in an interview with RTP. He shared why he picked FC Porto for his first big move away from Denmark. “First, FC Porto is a club with a lot of history,” he explained. “They’ve won so many great things, including the Champions League. After that, I just felt that FC Porto truly wanted me here. They showed me a really good plan for my future.”

It’s clear he’s adapting fast. At the end of that interview, he even said “obrigado,” which means “thank you” in Portuguese. He also shared that he’s already taking Portuguese language classes. He’s quickly picked up the FC Porto way of thinking when it comes to goals. “I want to fight for championships,” he stated. “Now, I need to do everything I can, with all my strength and skill, to help the team win.”

Even though he’s new to the Dragon stadium, Froholdt knows the pressure to win at FC Porto is much bigger than what he was used to in Copenhagen. He did point out that Copenhagen is also a club that likes to win. “I am young, but I know we must win every single game,” Froholdt added. “We have to make the FC Porto fans proud. This is a bigger club, a huge step for me. I will do everything I can to get better and help the team.” He always makes it clear: the team comes first for him.
