Diddy’s Lawyer Reveals Post-Release Plans Amidst Sex Trafficking Case

Sean "Diddy" Combs remains behind bars for an unknown period. Still, the music mogul is already looking ahead to life after his eventual release. His lawyer recently shared insights into Diddy’s simple hopes.

"He wants to take it slow when he gets out," Diddy’s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, told Variety in an interview published Friday, August 1. Agnifilo added that Diddy wants to spend time with his children. He also hopes to reconnect with his own life.

Agnifilo noted that Diddy, 55, hasn’t been outdoors since his arrest in September 2024. He’s been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. The lack of sunlight has taken a toll. "He hasn’t had any sun," Agnifilo explained. "It’s like a type of sensory deprivation." The lawyer described the environment as having constant artificial light. There is no breeze or wind, and the temperature barely changes. Diddy truly just wants to be outside with his family.

The Legal Road Ahead

Diddy was arrested last year. He faced serious charges including conspiracy to commit racketeering, transporting people for prostitution, and sex trafficking. He pleaded innocent and denied all accusations. On July 2, a jury found him guilty of two transportation charges. However, they cleared him of the others.

After the verdict, Diddy’s lawyers again asked for his release on bail before his sentencing on October 3. Judge Arun Subramanian turned down this request. This week, his legal team filed another motion. They are asking for bail set at $50 million. Diddy faces up to 20 years in prison, less time already served. Still, many experts believe he won’t get such a long sentence.

Beyond the Music

Agnifilo also shared that Diddy isn’t thinking about making music again right now. "I think those things are very far off," the lawyer stated. He noted that Diddy built his empire from nothing when he was much younger. Agnifilo believes this situation gives him a chance to do something special with his life. Diddy himself told his lawyer, "I have more to give." Agnifilo feels Diddy sees life as a gift and wants to live it fully, not selfishly.

A Fair Trial, Says Lawyer

Despite his defense team asking for a full acquittal or a new trial this week, Agnifilo feels Diddy received a fair hearing. "I believe Judge Subramanian is a very fair judge," Agnifilo told Variety. He added that the judge worked hard to give them the fairest trial possible. Agnifilo admitted no trial is perfect, but he praised the judge’s consideration and care. He said the judge dedicated much time to the parties involved. "I have no words to describe how good our judge is. He’s a great person," Agnifilo remarked. He felt the trial came "pretty close" to perfect.

Pardon Speculation

Rumors have been swirling about President Donald Trump possibly pardoning Diddy. Agnifilo, however, knows nothing about it. "I have nothing to do with that. I literally have no idea," he stated. He admitted that sometimes he thinks there’s nothing to the rumors, and other times he thinks they are just talk. "I don’t claim to know the president’s mind. I truly don’t know," he added.

When asked if a pardon is part of Diddy’s official legal strategy, Agnifilo was clear. It is not. "My part of the job focuses only on the case," he explained. "It’s about its merits and what happened in court. I don’t do anything else."

Deadline reported earlier this week that Trump, 79, is "seriously considering" a pardon for Diddy. The report cited an administration source. According to reports, Us Weekly understands that the White House doesn’t comment on possible pardons. Diddy’s representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
