It’s hard to believe that Ela Taubert has achieved so much in the past year. She won a Latin Grammy for ‘Best New Artist.’ Millions have streamed her songs. She even had dream collaborations with Joe Jonas and Morat. Yet, she only released her first album in May. With ‘Preguntas a las 11:11,’ the Colombian singer turned her uncertainties into music. This marked a fresh start in her life and career.

Two months after the album came out, her journey kept adding more fulfilled dreams and new experiences. Her most recent highlight was performing at the famous SummerStage in Central Park, New York. That same night, she shared another big upcoming event: her first tour across the United States.
In a private chat after her New York park show, 24-year-old Ela Taubert spoke openly. She seemed surprised by all her current experiences. "This time, I really connected with my inner child," she shared. "I didn’t turn on my performer side. For the first time, I told myself: I want to enjoy this like I was 13 years old again." She had more fun. She felt the true experience, like a young girl. The crowd’s energy was beautiful. You could feel the dream come to life.
New York: A City of Firsts
If one city runs through Ela’s story, it is New York. Seeing her face on a Times Square screen for the first time pushed her to keep dreaming big. Now she went back for another first: singing in Central Park. "I grew up watching my mom’s favorite artists play there," she said. "I always saw it as a symbol. When someone performs in New York, something special is happening. For me, it felt like a sign that I was on the right path."
The concert became an afternoon of discoveries. She sang almost her entire album live for the first time. She announced her first U.S. tour. She also shared the stage with Camilo, an artist she greatly admires. "I also walked across the Brooklyn Bridge," she mentioned, "something I always wanted to do." It was a very meaningful trip. New York keeps giving me those first-time experiences you never forget, she added.

Waving Her Flag, Rooted in Home
In the middle of the crowd, someone handed her the Colombian flag. The sight of Ela, wrapped in her country’s colors, touched everyone. "My eyes filled with tears," she shared. "I had dreamed of that moment my whole life. I felt like I was bringing my country to another country, showing how beautiful Colombia is. It was a huge dream come true. It also made me feel a strong duty to carry our flag and all it stands for."
Her family came in a group to support her. They made the night perfect. "My mom brought about 15 friends and relatives," she said. "That’s how we Colombians are: we go in a pack. This helped me connect more with my roots."
Growing Through Questions
Even though ‘Preguntas a las 11:11’ came out in May, the album still guides her through life right now. Each song is a question. It opens up something personal. There’s the first teenage love that left a mark. There are doubts about who she wants to be. She sings about her childhood memories in Colombia. She also sings about growing up far from home. "Since I was little, I overthink everything," she explained. "At my house, making wishes at 11:11 is a sacred tradition. Once I made the wrong wish, and that affected me a lot. That’s where the album came from: these are my midnight questions," she shared.
Today, these themes join her on stage. She never forgets her past or where she’s going. "Asking questions was my safe place to understand who I am," she admitted. And every time she sings, she does it with wide-open eyes. Just like the little girl who once dreamed of reaching this point.
