Juventus to Reopen Hjulmand Talks with Sporting; Lions Resist Sale

Hjulmand is desired in Turin

Juventus, the Italian giants, are once again looking towards Sporting for next season’s team. Reports from Italy suggest they want to bring Morten Hjulmand to Turin. The ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’ claims Juventus will soon talk with Sporting about a deal. But things look different here in Lisbon. Sporting is in a strong financial spot. They are not desperate to sell. In fact, the Lions truly want Hjulmand to stay for another year.

According to the Italian paper, the Danish international and PSG forward Kolo Muani are their top targets. The same report mentions Kolo Muani played in Turin last season, which is not accurate. Juventus leaders believe they can sign Hjulmand, the Lions’ captain, for a price between €60 million and €80 million. They seem very set on making this move happen.

It’s worth noting an interesting mistake in the Italian story. It suggests a rift between Sporting and Juventus. The report says this happened because of Alberto Costa’s transfer to FC Porto. That’s simply not true. Sporting, as ‘Record’ newspaper showed, was focused on Vagiannidis. They only asked about a Portuguese full-back’s status. Because of this, the ties between the two clubs remain very strong.

So, despite all the chatter, Hjulmand moving back to Italy this summer seems highly unlikely. Sporting is clear: they want to keep their key player. And Hjulmand himself has already made a promise inside the club. He has said he does not plan to leave Alvalade this season.
