Jeremy Antonisse Won’t Return to Moreirense; Netherlands Move Imminent Amid Contract Talks

Sometimes, football careers take a surprising turn. Jeremy Antonisse, the 23-year-old winger, is leaving Moreirense for good. He is heading back to his home country, the Netherlands, to continue playing.

Antonisse is currently working out the details to end his contract with the club. This decision comes after two weeks of uncertainty about where he would play next. It seems his future is now clear.

His season stretched longer than expected because he played in the Gold Cup. He represented Curaçao in the international tournament. This meant he didn’t start his vacation until June 25. He was supposed to join the Moreirense squad, now led by Vasco Botelho da Costa, last week. But things changed quickly. Antonisse is no longer part of the team’s plans for the new season.

Antonisse grew up playing football at PSV. He even made his first team debut there under German coach Roger Schmidt. Schmidt later coached Benfica in Portugal. Antonisse spent two seasons with Moreirense. He played in 56 games for the club. However, he never managed to score a single goal during his time there. He still has a contract with Moreirense until 2027. Now, a new chapter awaits him back in the Netherlands.
