It was a strong first showing for FC Porto under new coach Francesco Farioli. The Dragons beat Trofense 4-0 in a practice game this Saturday. The match happened behind closed doors at the Olival training ground. It was the very first chance for fans to see the team under Farioli’s leadership.
The game was split into three 30-minute periods, which is a bit unusual. Stephen Eustáquio opened the scoring early, finding the net in the 12th minute. Samu added another goal from a penalty kick at the 36-minute mark. Gabri Veiga kept the pressure on, scoring just four minutes later in the 40th minute. Danny Namaso sealed the deal in the 72nd minute, making it a comfortable win.
Even without scoring himself, Borja Sainz was a standout player. He provided assists for two goals, setting up both Eustáquio and Gabri Veiga. Rodrigo Mora also made a key pass, helping Namaso score the final goal of the afternoon. This strong team play shows some good early signs for the new season.
The team now gets a much-needed break on Sunday. They will then hit the road early on Monday. Their pre-season training camp in Aigen im Ennstal, Austria, starts at 9:15 AM. The squad will stay there until Friday, working hard to get ready for the upcoming challenges.
