Alisson: Sporting Team Still Adapting to Coach’s New System

Alisson Santos is one of Sporting's new additions.

Pre-season matches are often less about the score and more about finding your footing. For Sporting, a recent friendly against Celtic at Estádio Algarve ended in a 2-0 loss. But for new face Alisson, it was a moment to savor. Stepping onto the pitch in front of the Sporting faithful for the first time filled him with joy. He quickly brushed aside the scoreboard’s grim message.

“It wasn’t the result we wanted, but I’m still incredibly happy,” the winger shared after the game. He’s looking ahead, eager for the official season to kick off. Alisson expressed solid hopes for what the team can achieve, both individually and as a group. He believes things will naturally fall into place as they continue their hard work.

The team, he noted, is still getting used to new ways of playing. “We are still getting used to what the coach wants us to do every day,” Alisson explained. He sees no big problems with the changes, feeling it’s not a tough ask to follow the coach’s plan. Sporting is clearly a place where Alisson wants to find great success. He envisions a bright future there.

However, the mood shifted slightly when the conversation turned to teammate Gyökeres. Alisson’s smile faded. His response was brief and clear: “That’s not something for me to talk about.” It was a quick closing note to an otherwise open and hopeful chat about his fresh start.
