Check Facebook Story Viewers: See Non-Friends Too

Ever wonder who’s quietly watching your online life? It’s a common thought when you share personal updates or daily moments. On platforms like Facebook, many people try to peek at profiles without revealing themselves. Sometimes, these are just curious folks. Other times, they might be using fake accounts to stay hidden.

Facebook recently added a small update to its Story feature. This change lets you see who has viewed your Stories. Even better, it shows you if those viewers are not your friends or followers. This isn’t an official tool to see everyone who visits your profile, though. Facebook still keeps general profile visits private. But this Story tweak offers a glimpse into your audience.

To use this feature, you need to adjust your Story settings. You’ll have to make your Stories public. This means anyone on Facebook can see them. If someone peeks at your profile and watches your public Story, you will then see their name on your view list. This is different from apps like TikTok, which can show you general profile visits.

How to set up Facebook Stories to see who views them

  1. Open the Facebook app on your phone.
  2. Tap the Menu icon. This looks like a gear or three lines in the top right corner.
  3. Go to “Settings & Privacy,” then choose “Settings.”
  4. Scroll down the screen until you find “Stories.” Tap on it.
  5. Next, select “Story Privacy.”
  6. Change the setting to “Public.” Now, when you post a Story, you can see who viewed it, including people who aren’t your friends.

While seeing more viewers might feel good, sharing Stories publicly comes with risks. This is especially true if you post real-time updates. Making your content public offers wider reach. However, there are some downsides to consider.

  • Your privacy might feel invaded. Not knowing who’s viewing can be unsettling.
  • You could face harassment. Unwanted people might secretly track your life.
  • Your data might be tracked. Facebook logs story views and posts for ad analysis.
  • Content could be misused. This includes bullying or sharing your content without permission.

Keep in mind you can only see past Story viewers for up to 14 days. If you worry about unwanted attention, Facebook offers a solution. You can lock your entire profile. This adds more security and personal privacy to your account. It’s all about finding a balance between sharing your life and staying safe online.
