It’s clear to anyone watching that Demi Moore has fully embraced her role as a loving grandmother. The Hollywood icon lights up whenever she talks about her granddaughter, Louetta.
Just recently, on July 14, the 62-year-old actress shared some heartwarming photos on Instagram. The pictures showed her and two-year-old Louetta spending quality time in the garden. Demi captioned the snaps, "Never a dull moment in the garden!" The images also featured a few furry friends and close-ups of blooming flowers. Louetta, dressed in a white shirt adorned with flowers, looked keen to help. In one charming shot, the little one leaned down, digging in the dirt, copying Demi as she planted new flowers.
Louetta’s arrival was announced by her parents, Rumer Willis and Derek Richard Thomas, back in 2023. Rumer, who is 36, shared the happy news on Instagram just days after the birth, on April 24. "Louetta Isley Thomas Willis ✨ You are pure magic 🌱. Born at home on Tuesday, April 18th. You are more than we ever dreamed ✨," she wrote.
A Grandmother’s Concerns and Pride
Becoming a grandmother brought out some unexpected feelings for Demi. She opened up to People magazine in an April 2025 interview about Rumer’s home birth experience. "Rumer chose a home birth," Demi explained at the time. "There was a moment where I thought, ‘Oops, I don’t know if she’s going to make it,’ because she has a different pain tolerance than I do."
Thankfully, everything went smoothly, and Demi witnessed a beautiful transformation in her daughter. "Watching her truly step into her own power and focus was a really extraordinary and beautiful moment," she added.
Rumer’s Motherhood Journey
Rumer has been candid about her own experiences as a new mom. On August 22, 2024, she confirmed on Instagram that she and Derek Richard Thomas had gone their separate ways. When a fan asked about her relationship status, Rumer replied, "Nope, I am a single mama co-parenting." She expressed deep gratitude, saying, "I am so grateful for Lou."
Rumer added, "She is the best thing in my life. I will always be thankful for the time I had in that relationship for her to come into my life." Despite the changes in her personal life, Rumer shared in another Instagram story that she is quite open to having more children, maybe even six or seven.
She’s also been transparent about the challenges. In October 2023, Rumer revealed that she, Louetta, and Derek had all caught the flu at the same time. "Louetta, her dad, and I were all really sick recently," she shared. "All three of us had a really bad flu." This experience made her realize something important. "It was the first time as a mother that I truly thought, ‘Wow, how am I going to take care of myself? And take care of her?’"
Thankfully, Rumer managed through it. "It was almost healing to be able to look at all those moments in the past where maybe I felt anxiety or panic or anything, and truly allow myself to see what I am capable of," Rumer added. "Because I was also trying to let her body fight off whatever it was she was dealing with."
