Carlos Vinícius, the striker known for finding the back of the net, just got his Portuguese passport. He’s officially a Portuguese citizen now. This news comes at a crucial time for the 30-year-old, who is also on the hunt for a new team. His contract with Fulham, managed by Marco Silva, came to an end this summer.
Vinícius first stepped onto Portuguese soil in 2017. He joined Real SC on loan from Grêmio Anápolis and quickly made an impact. During his time there, he bagged 19 goals and set up 4 others in 39 games. His impressive form caught the eye of Napoli, who signed him next.
After joining Napoli, he went on loan spells, first to Rio Ave in Portugal. There, he showed his scoring touch once more, netting 15 goals in just 20 matches. He also had a brief loan period with Monaco before making his big move. In 2019, Benfica signed him. He truly shone for the Lisbon giants, scoring 24 goals and providing 13 assists. He even became the top scorer in the Portuguese league during the 2019/20 season.
Following his successful stint at Benfica, Vinícius moved on to new challenges. He went out on loan again to Tottenham and PSV. Then, in 2022, he made a permanent transfer to Fulham. He spent two seasons with the London club, scoring 8 goals in 53 appearances before his contract expired this summer. Now, with a new passport in hand, he’s ready to write the next chapter of his football story.
